What stood out positively about this experience?

Hospital was fairly small so it was difficult to get lost.

What improvements are needed?

Communication and leadership

What advice would you give future healthcare professionals considering this facility?

This facility has poor communication and poor leadership. They do not support its staff and allows bullying. This is a dangerous facility to work as well as receive care.

What stood out positively about this experience?

The staff are very friendly to travelers, very appreciative.

What improvements are needed?

Staffing ratios to match patient acuity!

What advice would you give future healthcare professionals considering this facility?

Be prepared to take a heavier med/surg patient load. The acuity of patients doesn't match the type floor you are on. You may have bipaps, high flow oxygen, cardiac drips, TPN, trachs all on one nurse. First time around, 7-8 patients on a night shift nurse- no bipaps or drips allowed on that floor. But with 8 patients, you get just one that starts downhill.... no time at all to give your others. There are other nurses but if they all have 7 or 8 they can't help much. Night charge always had full patient load. Second time around, different floor but almost always have 6-7 patients, more difficult floor. Bipaps, some cardiac drips, high flow O2, a lot of neuro, some surgical, psych holds (almost every floor). No charge on the weekends but charge has full load and orientation for new nurses or new charges during the week. Day shift charge on weekends often has full load of patients.
